Being a bride during a pandemic isn’t exactly ideal. And if we learned anything in 2020, it’s that sometimes life is unfair and can be completely out of our control.
I had the absolute privilege of being on the wedding journey with Aly + Dominick – through the anxieties and unknowns that this pandemic so graciously provided. I remember the early days, at the start of the lockdown in March 2020, talking to this awesome couple on Zoom about their vision. We were still planning for July 2020 at the time, very much assuming that with the warmer weather, there would be no pandemic worries and the wedding bells would resoundingly ring. Gradually, as the months went on, lockdown continued, and emotions were everywhere. The sweet couple remained completely certain that they would still become one on their originally planned wedding date.
The closer we came to said wedding date, the more the harsh reality of the situation was setting in. The beautiful, big wedding with 150 guests that Aly and Dominick had dreamt about together would look a lot different than they had intended. The date remained, the guest count was slashed, they kept the Airbnb rentals, found a taco man, and brought the smallest group to San Clemente to exchange vows. At this point in my career, I have seen many nuptials, but this day was amongst the most cherished. I was honored to be a part of their day and humbled to witness how they persevered through so many challenges together.
As we have it, they are married! YAY!
The PLAN A that they dreamt about will be a reality in September 2021!
