My favorite kind of referral is from/within a family I love. About 5 years ago I planned a gorgeous wedding for my client turned friend Suzanne, and we have remained pals ever since. Cut to my getting “the” call from her brother Peter and his fiancé Stephanie to talk about planning for their special day at the Cabrillo Pavilion in Santa Barbara February 2022. Let me just say that I LOVE Santa Barbara and couldn’t wait for any more excuses to get out there and plan a wedding. With the puzzle pieces fitting perfectly in place, we were obviously an amazing fit from day one.

And from perfect fit I mean we could turn an impromptu visit from me to SB (I drove up on a rare day-off to meet with another client for a quick cake tasting) into a “timeline meeting”/ 7 hour wine tasting gabfest filled with loads of laughs (I rang Steph and Peter post cake-tasting, and we made a plan to meet-up which subsequently turned into said fantastic 7 hour event).

Nobody expects a sunny 78 degrees day in February (even in SoCal)… especially when the week’s forecast predicts rain. Steph texted me the week before the wedding in a full rain prediction panic, and I told her to stop looking. Ha! Well, the sun shone brightly for this amazing couple – their wedding day weather was all sunny skies and summertime warmth. Definition of a perfect day!

Steph and Peter have been together for 14 years, and I have to say it was chilling to see the love that surrounded them on their wedding day– the presence was so strong and overwhelming (a good overwhelming). You could see it in the bond between them, and in the friends that flew in from literally everywhere to celebrate. From the Welcome Dinner through the pool day after the wedding, everyone was having too good of a time to leave the celebrations. That’s when you know it’s a good time!

Steph, Peter, and their friends and family danced and sang through and through with the kind of inescapable joy and love that comes just once in a lifetime.
