It was love and first Zoom when I met Shir and Billy to discuss plans for their upcoming wedding. Shir and Billy are based in New York, so much of our planning was done remotely. We had an ongoing group chat through the process, which really helped me get to know them on a deeper level. They directly texted me any questions as they popped up, and that open communication was not only super-efficient but also built a friendship and trust that made everything easier all around.
These two are so romantic and bonded together in such a special way. Billy has this beautiful tattoo of a music symbol that when translated in Hebrew is Shir’s name. I mean, c’mon! I was obsessed when I heard about this. With guitar being a passion of Billy’s, I thought it would be cool to incorporate both of his passions, Shir and music, when creating the wedding signage. His tattoo was the basis for our design, and my mind went immediately to a guitar pick. We looked into creating custom picks as the wedding favors, but regrettably it wasn’t in budget. So, we decided to have this gorgeous giant wooden guitar pick featuring the tattoo design created. This way we could display it throughout the event (at welcome and later at the escort table), to tie-in Billy’s true loves to the overall aesthetic. It turned out perfectly. Billy and Shir loved it so much, they have it displayed in their home as an art piece, bringing all the joy and love from their wedding day into everyday life. Love this.
Ok, so here is the fun part: this is the first time I pulled off a big surprise for a couple on their wedding day. I really wanted those custom guitar picks…. I suggested we have matchbooks created featuring the tattoo design, which was a cute idea, and Billy and Shir liked it. But… I actually had the guitar picks created myself and surprised them on the day of the wedding – Billy’s reaction was so incredible – he was genuinely touched, and it made it all worth it.
Their wedding day was rockin’ and rollin’ from the start with one of the most fun wedding party’s I’ve met. There were 12 attendants on each side, and boy were they awesome: so open, loving, and appreciative. Their energy was pure joy, and it says so much about Billy and Shir. Just really good people, you know? I made some friends out of this wedding for sure.
I could talk about these two and their wedding all day. I can’t wait to visit New York and meet up with them for a drink, or maybe a rock show – one with lots of guitar. Cheers to the Murphy’s!
