Kendall and Pierce – a couple that has the southern charm to enchant everyone around them. That southern charm is what brought the two together at Moonshines, a country line dancing bar in San Diego. Kendall told her friend that “that boy is cute” – a little tap tap on the shoulder and the rest was history.

I had so much fun getting to know both sides of the family in this journey to “I do”. It was an honor and privilege to work with Pierce’s parents to bring the welcome party to life. I will never forget when Pierce’s parents flew in to meet me at the venue, for the night before’s event. They flew in, drove their rental car from LAX to Moorpark, and stepped out in heels to a farm. As they were similar to a deer in headlights at the sights, they gave me full trust that i would eventually bring this thing to life, with only knowing me from a 10 minute phone call and 30 minute walkthrough.

The night before the wedding, was a true surprise in many ways for the couple. I wanted this night to be aesthetically different than the rustic chic wedding day. I brought modern style into this farm-like space which was both sharp and different, had a really fun twist on being at a setting as such. It was an amazing evening full of southern nods: jambalaya truck and Sazeracs. Truly a magical night and start to the weekend for all.

Then came the wedding day–

Honoring Pierce’s southern roots, coming from Louisiana, Kendall’s Southern California sense of style, and their shared love for a rustic, yet chic aesthetic, they chose Calamigos Ranch in Malibu for its stunning landscape and romantic details. It was an obvious choice when they did the venue search (or lack thereof search, one tour / one venue!) In the Oak Room, where they had their reception, with its dark wood paneling, it was seamless to build out the wedding of their dreams.

Something that stood out about Kendall and Pierce was their utmost trust in me to bring the vision into a reality, and I credit that to the connection we made during our time working together. It was every event planner’s dream – Kendall gave me her color palette and vision, and let me take it from there and simply surprise her on the rest. The creative freedom that Kendall and Pierce gave us allowed for small details to be unique and meaningful to the bride and groom as well as every guest that attended. One of my favorites, in particular, were coasters that said “Live Life, Make More Stories” which made zero sense to any guest at the time of seeing it, but later correlated directly to the Father of the Bride’s speech. His last words of his amazingly curated speech were that coaster saying of his, which has been a family motto for years.

It was apparent from the moment the ceremony started until the last steps on the dance floor at the end of the night just how loved Kendall and Pierce are by their families and friends – and how much love the two of them share. With moments like Pierce’s sweet nephews crawling down the aisle with big smiles on their faces, Kendall’s close friend officiating her nuptials, or the beautiful vows they shared that had the guests visibly in tears, you could just feel the love radiating in that space. It was such a special day to be a part of.

Not everyone can say things worked out with the cute guy in the bar, but Kendall certainly can. It was an honor working with Kendall and Pierce, may they be blessed with years of happiness to come!
